So i'm back...

Thu Jun 12, 2008, 4:02 PM
Wow, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it?
My new account is here – [link] (add me : ) )

Before I continue with my rambling (because there’s a heck of a lot to say!) I want to say one very important thing – I’m back!

I kid you not.

I’ve got so much to say….so prepare yourselves for a substantial amount of reading.

Firstly, I’ve changed a lot. When I last submitted work here I was a 16 year old shy, socially unconfident, horse-crazy little girl.

I’m almost 18 now, I’ve moved out of home and I’m at University.

One thing that hasn’t changed – my passion for horses : )
I have a completely new outlook on life, I’m confident, I’m making plans for the future, and I’ve got dreams, aspirations and hopes. A big contrast from what I was like two years ago…

I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Equine Science at the University of Queensland, Gatton campus. ([link]) I’m doing a three year course, then hoping to specialize in equine nutrition or physiotherapy. As I mentioned before, I no longer live with my parents (well, mostly!) I live on campus at the University and I board Rocky at a friend’s place about 10 min down the road (Gatton is a very rural/farming area, so there’s more than enough space). It’s horsey heaven here to say the least. There’s acres and acres of riding space, and I have the privilege of using the fantastic arena next door. To an extent, I’ve become a ‘student’ of the man who owns the property, ‘Ron’. He’s a down-to-earth old guy who has spent most of his years training horses for a variety of disciplines. After acquiring a gorgeous Frisian mare, “Moy” he is planning to start a Friesian stud in the near future. I’ve had the pleasure of riding and working with Moy (you’ll see some pictures of her on my new account) and she is one of the most amazing horses (other than Robbie :p hehe) that I’ve ever been around. Perfect conformation, disposition and attitude…she never fails to take my breath away.

Now I know you all want updates on my special ‘little’ guys, Rocky and Robbie.

I’ll start with Rocky.
Now, according to the last journal entry I posted here, Australia was in the middle of the Equine Influenza outbreak a.k.a. hell. Put it this way, I couldn’t ride for 8 freaking months -_- Rocky came back into work around late January this year and is finally starting to look like a horse again. We’ve been to an ODE and a show jumping day so far this year which is hopefully the start of a successful competition season. He’s going to be a lovely little eventing horse one day and I plan to sell him in about four years or so – depending on what level he manages to reach. If there ever was a word to define this horse, it would be ‘goofball’ lol. I love him : p

And now on to my extremely special thoroughbred, ‘Robbie’. No matter what, this horse has a home with me for life <3 Now as most of you are aware, Robbie was diagnosed with an avulsion of the suspensory ligament at the end of 2006. He was meant to only have around 6 months off but due to the EI outbreak, my final year of school and now university, he’s spent the past year and a half running wild with his harem of mares at Wivenhoe dam. I do see him occasionally (it’s a long journey out there) and he’s FAT, healthy and SOUND. In four weeks time I’ll be bringing Robbie to Gatton and I’ll have both of my boys with me here : ) His rehab into work will be taken very carefully and slowly – I don’t want to risk him hurting himself again.

As a condition set by my father, if I want two horses here, I have to pay fully for one. I’m going to see how this goes…I have a well paying job at the Kenmore Tavern, which is Bar/Bistro. I’m hoping what I’ve saved up so far will keep my Robbie-pie going. Lol.

Oh and btw, I EFFING LOVE HIM.

Some piccies from when I visited him last month -- >

Now many of you are probably wondering the reason for my sudden return and the reason is this – my photography has improved tenfold and I’ve become very serious about it. I’m hoping, in the near future, to make some ‘money on the side’ from it per say. I love to show people my work…and everyone here was always to supportive of my passions (horses & photography). I loved the comments, both good and bad, as they helped me become the photographer I am now. Of course, I always want to improve…

So that’s it for now and I’ll submit some of my photos on my new account asap.

I look forward to hearing from all of you,

Regards,

Caroline. Xo.

ps. If you have myspace...add meh ;)
